One of the best things about my job is the people that I have the pleasure of meeting. Typically, they are passionate, creative, entrepreneurial and talented which is certainly the case with Stephanie Duttenhaver and Cindy Edwards, owners of Sapelo Skin Care.

Sapelo Skin Care is a luxury skin care brand that is developed, manufactured and bottled in Savannah, Georgia. Cindy and Stephanie aimed to create a skin care line that drew inspiration from the southern landscape and was developed locally. While we get to enjoy the fruit of their labor, getting the product perfect took them over three years with the help of an experienced cosmetic scientist and two board certified physicians. Their goal was to create a skin care brand that uses only the highest-quality, locally-inspired ingredients that shows real results and feels great.

I recently had the chance to hang out with the southern Sapelo ladies at their brilliantly clean plant. Cindy and Stephanie, along with their chemist, walked me through the process – including how their products are made – and gave me a first class lesson in ‘skin care 101’. What an eye opening experience!   After some research, I was disappointed to learn that many of the other products on the shelves in our stores today claim to use natural ingredients that reap great rewards but really only use one drop and bottle the rest with fillers. It’s very important to find a skin care line that you trust and, more importantly, to do research before you apply. I’ve been using Sapelo’s 28 day regimen now for over a month and I’m thrilled with the results. The seaweed cleanser, rejuvenating cream and softening emollient with essential oils have really transformed my skin. My favorite product is their rejuvenating cream – your face feels so fresh and light post application, not oily or heavy. I’m honestly hooked.
