The Florence | Savannah, GA
Chef Hugh Acheson's Italian Restaurant
I have a new favorite restaurant in Savannah–The Florence–and I can’t get enough of it! Whenever I have a shoot with Kelli in Savannah, I carve out time to enjoy lunch at Chef Hugh Acheson’s newest restaurant. While they frequently use new ingredients brought to them by farmers, the simplicity of their menu is what makes them stand out. They feature appetizers, pasta, entrees, and are known for their pizza–which is prepared in a wood burning oven! My go to meal there is the “Long Live the Queen” pizza with their Green Salad. While their dishes, especially their tomato sauce, are considered to be authentic Italian food, the ingredients are southern grown and come from local farms whenever possible. Their food pairs well with the unique and fun wine selection. Not only should you go for the delicious food and exceptional service, but also for the ambience.
Like the city of Savannah, The Florence has a unique history–the space was formerly used as an ice factory! The exposed brick walls give the restaurant warmth and southern charm. The Florence truly has it all–from a cafe, to a bar, restaurant and even event space! You’ll have to check it out for yourself next time you’re in Savannah!
