Celebrating Charleston Through Borough’s Dress Collection
Flattering Print Dresses by Borough
I love scrolling through Instagram and finding emerging designers and brands that I’ve never heard of before. I could easily spend hours searching through hashtags and taking screenshots of clothes and other items that grab my attention. This just so happens to be how I found Borough, which makes flattering dresses that celebrate Charleston and its rich southern culture. The name Borough is representative of the different downtown boroughs in Charleston, SC, such as South of Broad, Ansonborough, French Quarter, Elliotborough and Harleston Village. The owner and designer, Ashley Worrall, loves the distinct charm of each borough, so every style of dress is named after the Charleston borough that best matches its personality.
I have a deep rooted love for Charleston since I moved there after college and worked at the College of Charleston for seven years. Therefore, I’m so excited to discover someone that is passionate about creating dresses that embody this charming city and its personality. I believe their dresses would make a great memento for tourists and are the perfect brand for a local who wants to show their love for the Holy City.
Ashley designs all of the festive prints for her dresses, and they’re truly a nod to the holy city’s culture. Borough considers local production to be at the heart of their core values. Ashely ensures that all of the dresses are crafted in the Carolina’s, including the soft organic cotton fabric which is locally knit, cut and sewn.
If you’ve ever been to Charleston, then I’m sure you’ve marveled at the beauty of the Charleston single homes South of Broad. The name: South of Broad Classic Shift dress in the House Hunting print, instantly brought me back to my days in Charleston, and I knew I needed this dress. If you purchase this dress, you’ll want to throw on a pair of espadrille wedges and explore the unique Charleston boroughs. You’ll catch a glimpse of the classic Charleston piazzas (porches) and the most beautiful window boxes.
If you’re having trouble deciding which print or style to don, you should browse their Instagram or search for the hashtag #shopborough to see how Charlestonians are styling these gorgeous dresses!
