When Casey and I were selecting the furnishings for our master bedroom, we made it a point to focus our attention on picking out the right mattress. In the past, it has always been an afterthought. Much more planning went into selecting decorative pieces, but a mattress really has a big impact on your daily life. Did you know that it can affect your health, too? Getting enough sleep is key to starting off your day right and setting you up for good things to come. Luckily, a good friend referred us to Coastal Bedding Outlet based in Bluffton, South Carolina where we decided to invest in the right mattress for the both of us. Just in the past three weeks I have experienced HUGE benefits and I wanted to share them with you!

Increased Productivity. This may have to do with less tossing and turning at night with the old mattress and overall just getting a better night’s rest. I’ve clearly been more focused during the day which means that more things are getting checked off of my to-do list.

Higher Motivation. Because of a good night’s rest, I feel completely recharged when I wake up. I’ve been motivated to work out, cook and walk the dogs. After I make the bed, I feel ready (and excited) to start the day. Tip: Make your bed everyday! This will help get you started on the right foot. 

Reduced Allergies. We had a really old mattress but kept blaming the budget when we talked about the need to replace it. I think that the average replacement time is seven years old. I’ve read that a mattress can be the culprit to dust mites and other allergy triggers especially if it’s older than seven years. I’ve experienced less sneezing and watery eyes since we’ve been sleeping in our new mattress.

Just these three benefits have really made me question why we didn’t invest in a better mattress sooner! We ended up selecting two twin mattresses and one king base per the owner, Tom Turcotte, at Coastal Bedding Outlet recommendation. I like a softer mattress while Casey prefers a firmer one. After test-driving many mattresses (you should do the same!) we opted for the Serta iComfort III Collection. Another suggestion of his, (which we totally agreed with!) was to purchase adjustable bases. Casey and I both enjoy reading before bed, and the adjustable bases make it so much easier and you control everything with a remote. We can read comfortably without having to use multiple pillows to prop up our heads.

Actually taking the time to source out the right mattress, or in our case has been nothing short of life-changing! To wake up feeling well-rested and refreshed is priceless. Our sweet puppies Gracie and Riley have also given us their approval! Make sure next time you are in the market for a new mattress, that you really take the time to find what works best for you.
