Celebrate Spring with Playful and Fresh Patterns by Collier Rose Ink
I can hardly believe that we’ve been in our new home for over a year now! One of my favorite rooms to spend time in is my home office, especially during springtime. The floor to ceiling windows allow an abundance of natural light in and while sitting at my desk I can see all of our pink and white Camellias blooming in the yard.
The design idea for my office was to create a neutral space since I frequently use it to photograph different projects. I painted both the shiplap and trim white and added furniture that complimented the white-wash color palette. I knew that I wanted to add pops of color in the space but I wasn’t sure which direction to go. It wasn’t until I learned about Collier Rose Ink, a talented Charleston-based duo specializing in patterns and textiles, that I knew exactly what my office needed!
I immediately fell in love with their Scallop Collection (and it seems as though you did too when I shared a sneak peek on Instagram!) The Scallop fabric along with all of their other fabrics are hand-screened and sun-dried in Jaipur, India which leaves a beautiful natural variation. I opted for blush to compliment my pink and white camellias in my yard. Luckily, I had two slip chairs that needed a refresh! So I immediately ordered the Scallop fabric and lined up Overall Upholstery in the Golden Isles to recover the chairs.
Because all of the fabrics are dyed and cut by hand, it takes about 4-6 weeks to receive the fabric. Trust me when I say that it was truly worth the wait! Collier Rose Ink also offers custom colorization — so you can send in samples of colors for precise matching. I let founders, Nicki Rose and Cooper Collier, take the creative lead on my project since this was the first color that I would be introducing in the space. The color they chose is absolutely perfect (a mix between peach and coral) and it added that pop of color that I was longing for in the space.
If you’re looking for a refresh or wanting to add an unexpected twist to a room, I’d encourage you to introduce colorful textiles either through pillows, chairs or seat cushions. Collier Rose Ink also offers wallpapers that are printed digitally in the US and available on Grasscloth and standard paper. If you’re in Atlanta, stop by Steve Mckenzie’s showroom to see their fabrics and wallpaper in person.
Special thanks to Collier Rose Ink and Overall Upholstery for your help with this project and making my office happy!
