My Favorite Things To Do Around the Island

Last summer, I had the pleasure of traveling to Nantucket for the #CBCSummerHouse. It was my first time to this picturesque island and I immediately fell in love. What’s not to love about Nantucket? It’s filled with an abundance of flowers, cobblestone streets, weathered grey shingle homes, great food and some pretty spectacular sunsets. So when I had the opportunity to travel back to this dreamy island with JetBlue last week, I quickly packed my bags. Nantucket is becoming my new favorite summer getaway. And since JetBlue has service from Savannah to ACK (with a quick stop at JFK), I may be retreating to this 14 mile long Island more often.

During my visit, I teamed up with Nantucket-based photographer, Matt Kisiday. As a local, he offered insights on some of the best spots around the Island for lobster rolls, shopping, sunsets and stargazing. We tried to capture as much as possible and we’ll be sharing our Nantucket adventures through Instagram Takeovers with PureWow and Country Living Magazine. So be on the lookout in the coming weeks — I’d love for you to follow along! In the meantime, enjoy my Nantucket mini travel guide to help you with your planning.

Lodging.

Greydon House. During my visit, I stayed at the Greydon House which is located directly in the historic downtown. It’s a beautiful boutique property with nautical-inspired decor. A rich blue hue is prominent throughout the interiors so of course I felt right at home at this hotel. Located on Broad Street, you can walk to almost anywhere in town. It also has a beautiful bar which makes it the perfect place for a nightcap after an evening out.

Coffee + Smoothies.

The Corner Table. Typically for breakfast, I opt for something lighter like yogurt or a smoothie. Most mornings, I’d walk across the street to The Corner Table for a Vanilla Chai. They have a darling courtyard and if I lived in Nantucket, I’d probably spend most mornings under their vine covered trellis at a little bistro table working from my laptop.

Lemon Press. If you’re looking for a larger breakfast selection, then check out Lemon Press. Not only do they offer fresh, organic + healthy juice, smoothie and food options but they also having a charming interior! Their ‘Georgia Greens’ smoothie on the menu was a subtle reminder that I was in the right spot.

Lunch.

167 Raw. One of my favorite restaurants in Charleston is 167 Raw. So as you can imagine, I was pretty excited to learn that they have a fresh market and food truck on Nantucket! So after a warm and sunny walk along the Bluff, we made our way to 167 Raw for fresh lobster rolls, tacos and guacamole.

Something Natural. For another casual lunch spot, try Something Natural for fresh piled-high sandwiches and cookies. Order one of their sandwiches on freshly baked bread and find a picnic table outside. I particularly loved this spot because of the laid back atmosphere which is perfectly suited for conversation. It’s also very family friendly.

Dinner and Drinks.

Galley Beach. Grab a glass of rosé at the bar and head out to the beach to catch the sunset. Located in Steps Beach, Galley Beach is an upscale dining option with beautiful seaside views. If you’re up for a late night and the skies are clear, head out to the beach after dinner to catch a glimpse of the Milky Way. The views won’t disappoint.

Straight Wharf. During my last night in Nantucket, I met some friends at Straight Wharf for fresh seafood and delicious cocktails. We dined outside under the twinkling string lights and it was the perfect ending to a most memorable trip. Afterwards, walk along the wharf and admire all of the beautiful boats and fancy yachts tied along the docks.

CRU. Another popular restaurant in town is CRU. I stopped here for drinks and appetizers at the bar when I first arrived on the Island. It’s the perfect spot to sip a cocktail (try the Crucomber or Purple Rain) and watch the boats navigate through the Nantucket fog.

Things To Do.

‘Sconset Bluff Walk. One of my favorite parts of the Island is Siasconset because of the ‘Sconset Bluff Walk. Park your car and walk the narrow trail lined with grey cedar shingle homes and seaside views. Don’t forget your camera, trust me.

Shopping. Since I stayed right in town, it was easy for me to pop into shops throughout my visit. Some of my favorite boutiques were Faherty, Flowers on Chestnut, Peter Beaton Hat Studio (I really want one of their custom hats for Christmas) and Milly & Grace.

Beach. Of course you can’t leave Nantucket without a trip to the beach. The Island offers a handful of public beach options for visitors. I’d recommend soaking in the sun at ‘Sconset Beach while watching the seals play in the water. Or head to Steps Beach for little to no waves and super soft sand.

I hope this guide will prove helpful during your next visit to Nantucket. I’d love to hear your favorite spots if you frequent the Island often. Thanks for stopping by!
