Dining Room Interior Design Plans
A Peek Into My Furniture + Fabric Choices
As you may know, I’m in the process of decorating our new home in Savannah, Georgia. I’ve already shared my interior design plans for the double parlor and today I’m giving you a peek into my interior design plans for the dining room.
The dining room is becoming one of my favorite spaces in the house. I’ve always wanted a formal dining room to host our family and friends! I also really love this space because of the sweet original French doors with a frosted glass design. They provide the perfect touch to help transition the double parlor into the dining room.
But first, here’s a look at the existing space (the ‘before’ images):
We plan to make the opening on the East wall larger to create a better flow into the adjoining room.
I also plan to switch out the existing ceiling fan with a beautiful chandelier from Circa Lighting, specifically the Sharon Medium Chandelier.
Furniture and Fabric Choices.
The dining room will have a traditional dining table centered in the space. I ended up ordering a vintage table from Baker Furniture through Chairish. I fell in love with the table and ordered a used one online. It’s currently getting refinished and I can’t wait to see the final result.
For the dining chairs, I also opted for chairs from Baker Furniture. They are also being refinished and painted a crisp white. The seat and seat backs will be recovered in Aura in Ice Blue from Thibaut. It’s a beautiful and performance grade fabric which fits the space perfectly. The seat backs will be recovered in a different fabric, in Amalfi Light Grey. I’m also going to recover the two host chairs (that I bought from an estate sale) in the Amalfi fabric as well. This way the look is cohesive even though the chairs are different.
Lastly, the window drapes will be in my absolute favorite pattern, Royale Toile in Aqua as part of their Chestnut Hill Collection. This beauty was actually the whole inspiration for the room. I can’t wait to see how everything comes together.
I researched, pinned and saved numerous pictures as inspiration for this space and the majority of the fabrics that I loved were from Thibaut. So I knew that they were a reputable, trusted source for fabrics, wall-coverings and more. They were established in 1886 and continues to be the oldest wallpaper firm. With their insightful knowledge of industry standards and trends, they increased their offerings to coordinating print fabrics, embroideries, and woven upholstery fabrics. Recently, they launched an upholstered furniture line! Thibaut is certainly favored by interior designers and I’m honored to have them grace my home.
Wallpaper and Paint Choices.
Right now the space is a bit dark because the trim and walls are painted a very dark grey. I plan to lighten up the space with a white and beige stripe wallpaper from Farrow & Ball. And since I’m obsessed with blue — I’m painting the ceiling a very light blue called Borrowed Light from Farrow and Ball.
