My Savannah Home Exterior Tour
Four Ways I Updated My Home's Exterior
Today, I’m sharing a look at my Savannah home exterior. Since we moved into the house we’ve painted the house shutters and the front doors. We’ve also switched out the electrical lights for gas lanterns, above both the front door and the garden level door. We’re so excited with how everything turned out!
Paint Colors.
For the front doors I opted for Farrow & Ball Parma Gray. It looks like a pale blue/gray in the sun and a beautiful bright blue in the shade. The Parma Gray gives a nod to the color scheme of the interior.
I wanted to freshen up the exterior shutters that were once painted black. I choose Farrow & Ball Purbeck Stone for the exterior shutters. I love how the medium beige color highlights the mortar in the brick. To me, the house feels younger now!
Gas Lanterns.
Carolina Lanterns offers traditional gas lanterns that fit the aesthetic of our home perfectly. I choose the Charleston lantern with a yoke for the main entrance. I love how gas lanterns totally transform the atmosphere.
Door Hardware.
We found a brass letter opener and door knocker in the garden level of the house so of course wanted to install them on the front door! I found a Savannah-inspired door entrance set from Classic Brass. It’s quite a tricky handle set to install so be sure that you have a professional for installation.
Transom.
Lastly, we installed a glass transom above the door to let in some light. We can also see the gas light flicker at night in our entry.
