Front Porch Refresh
Get Your Home Ready For Spring
Since posting a few pictures on Instagram of the exterior of my home, I’ve had a lot of questions about paint colors, patio furniture and outdoor planters. I thought it would it would be best to outline everything for you in a blog post.
Exterior Paint Colors.
The front door color is Farrow & Ball Parma Gray. It’s a beautiful light blue that turns into more of a gray color when in direct sunlight. I love this cool shade of blue because it’s not too overpowering for a home built in the 1850s. The exterior shutters are Farrow & Ball Purbeck Stone. I actually thought about a grayish beige after someone recommended it on my Instagram feed. I’m obsessed with the color and how it looks next to the doors. It really lightens the home and I think makes it look happy.
Outdoor Planters.
I fell in love with these all-weather wicker baskets. They perfectly fit my rosemary balls (that need a lot of water and sunlight). I snagged them from Terrain in the fall and they’ve really held up after numerous waterings and downpours! When it’s about to rain, I actually move them on my steps so that they can drink the water. My porch (even though it’s sheltered) gets mostly sun during the day and the wicker planters look like they did the day that I bought them.
I usually have boxwood topiaries next to the front door but one of them caught a fungus and died. I’m waiting to get another one but everything is delayed due to COVID-19. So, I moved the remaining boxwood next to our white gate. I like the idea of having the tall, narrow topiaries next to the rosemary balls for some added dimension.
Bistro Table + Chairs.
We have a small, bistro table set up near the back of our courtyard. We’ve really been taking advantage of eating dinners here in the evenings since we’ve been quarantined. It’s also very durable and easy to clean. Typically, most mornings I just wash it down with a hose while I’m watering my plants. I bought two blue and white outdoor bistro chairs from Serena & Lily to complement the Parma Gray doors. The faux plants on the bistro table and outdoor pillows are from Christmas Tree Shops andThat!
