My Guest Bathroom Refresh Plans

We’re giving our guest bathroom a refresh this fall! We’re actually doing a good bit of work like adding a stackable washer and dryer, as well as adding a glass enclosed shower. When we first moved into the house we didn’t do anything to this space except paint the walls and update the decor. Now that we’ve settled into the house it’s time to show this room some love. It’s also great timing because we don’t have any house guests with COVID-19. So no one will be needing this bathroom in the near (or likely distant) future!

What’s Changing?

My guest bathroom has a small footprint. One of our biggest needs was to add a second washer and dryer since I seem to be doing laundry all of the time, especially now with baby Julia. It proved too difficult to carry loads of laundry up and down two sets of stairs. (since our current laundry room is on our garden level floor.) We have just enough space in the bathroom to add a stackable washer and dryer. So we went for it!

Sadly, the decision was made to swap out the clawfoot tub for a shower due to the limited space. If we ever needed to replace the washer and dryer we would have to remove the vanity first which isn’t a good design decision! The clawfoot tub is just too wide.

The Design.

New tile always transforms a space so I stopped by my local Garden State and Tile. I worked with them in the past for my main bathroom and was blown away with their terrific customer service and tile options! For this project, I opted for a small hexagon tile for both the main floor and the shower floor. Typically I use a different tile for the shower floor but I wanted a very simple and clean look in this room. Adding another pattern in the mix just didn’t feel right.

Fortunately, a few months ago I won a very ‘grandmillenial’ mini chandelier from a local auction house in Savannah. The price was a steal! So I ended up painting it and I plan to hang from the bathroom ceiling. I also snagged a double sconce from recent Circa sale that will be installed the bathroom mirror.

Paint Choices.

The walls will be Farrow & Ball’s Pale Powder and the trim will be Green Blue, also from Farrow & Ball. The bold color of the trim will look clean next to the white tile on the floors and shower wall.

Decor Choices.

Lastly, I linked to a few of the pieces that I’ll be putting in the bathroom and a few others that I like such as the mirror, rug, towels, etc.

What a great bathroom! But I think you should consider about new bathtubs
