DIY Stovetop Potpourii

A Homemade + Fall Inspired Potpourri

Fall DIY Potpourri

Since returning to my home after Hurricane Irma, I've been doing little things around the house to make it feel like a home. Yesterday, I created my own handmade stove top potpourri so that I'd have a fresh and lemon-scented fragrance in my kitchen! It was super easy to do and I'll definitely be doing more of these homemade stove top combinations especially this holiday season. Directions: In a saucepan, combine 3 cups of water, 2 lemons (sliced), 4-5 sprigs of rosemary and 2 tablespoons vanilla extract. Bring the water to a boil. Then let simmer. I let it simmer for about 45 minutes and my house smelled great. If you love the smell of Rosemary, then I'd recommend that you add a bit more. It's a super fragrant herb and it really fills…

This Labor Day weekend, I enjoyed the Southern Grown Festival at Sea Island with my friends. If you're not familiar with the Southern Grown Festival, it's a weekend celebration filled with food, drink and music and is hosted by Sea Island and Garden & Gun! In addition to the weekend festival, Sea Island presents a concert series at Rainbow Island throughout the year as part of Southern Grown. On Friday night, Garden & Gun kicked off the weekend with dinner and a show -- featuring the GRAMMY Award-winning band, Steep Canyon Rangers from Asheville, North Carolina. They're best known for their work with actor Steve Martin. I absolutely LOVED this bluegrass band and hope to see them again soon in concert. The dinner was delicious, but I especially enjoyed my favorite Chocolate Chess Pie from Southern…

Hurricane Irma Update

Irma

Thank you so much for all of your calls, texts and direct messages! I am safe and sound in North Carolina. With Hurricane Irma approaching, St. Simons Island and the surrounding areas were under a mandatory evacuation. So I boarded up our home and headed to Lake Toxaway, North Carolina with our neighbors. It was certainly a stressful time, especially traveling with two dogs and trying to fit everything valuable into a car. But we made it safely and the lake has been a great distraction from the Hurricane. Right now, St. Simons is facing a nor'easter and tomorrow we're expecting about 8-12" of rain from Hurricane Irma. Tornadoes and storm surge are also extreme threats to our island. I'm hopeful that Irma will continue to weaken for everyone in its path. This experience…

I've teamed up with Pottery Barn, with the help of Full Moon Lighting, Hogwash Rosé, Kelli Boyd Photography and Home Decorative Accents, to offer you four ways to incorporate fall elements into your home. I'm also sharing a delicious Apple Cider Rosé Sangria recipe! As soon as I feel the drop in humidity and temperatures, I’m eager to decorate my home for fall and run to my local coffee shop for pumpkin spiced lattes. Who’s with me?! Even though it still might be a bit too early to set out real pumpkins and bales of straw on my front porch, I still bring fall elements into my home through patterns and decorative (faux) pumpkins. One way that I celebrate the start of fall is by creating a cozy outdoor retreat for the family. It’s the perfect…

Last week, I shared with you about my recent trip to Puerto Rico with JetBlue! To prepare for my vacation, I took a day trip to Savannah to do a bit of shopping! I stopped in one of my favorite stores, Club Monaco located right on Broughton Street. If you're not familiar with Savannah, Broughton Street is the main thoroughfare for shops such as Kendra Scott, Vineyard Vines, Anthropology and more. It's located in the heart of the historic downtown and a few blocks next to the river. If you want to learn more about Savannah, check out my Savannah Travel Guide. For my Puerto Rico trip, I popped into Club Monaco to look for a dressier option for evening dinners. So I opted for pink wide leg pants (on sale now) with a crisp white…
