Antique Shopping in Savannah

Summer Days in Savannah

Antique Shopping

As a child, one of my favorite things to do with my mom was shop for antiques. We loved exploring a handful of boutiques, searching for something truly unique. When my mom was in town this past spring, we took a quick jaunt to Savannah for fun days filled with antique shopping. We went to a few shops on Broughton, including the Paris Market (one of my favorites), and a few places off the beaten path. One of my favorite stops was Pinch of the Past. Located on Whitaker Street, I knew was going to like the store as soon as I walked in! They specialize in architectural antiques -- think old wooden doors, wrought iron gates, hardware for doors, tile and more. I loved browsing through all of their gems and even found…

Birmingham

As you know, travel is a big part of Lavin Label, and I love having the opportunity to explore new cities and share my experiences with you. I am fortunate to visit some incredible places, including recent trips to Nantucket, New York City, and my last trip to Birmingham. I work closely with Cheri and Whitney, the founders of The Southern C, and am so grateful that they asked Kelli and me to tag along on their trip to Birmingham with Hoffman Media. Brian Hoffman (President/Chief Creative Officer) and Brooke Bell (Director of Editorial Operations) from Hoffman Media were both gracious and fun hosts during our visit to The Magic City! Hoffman Media specializes in publications targeted to women, such as Southern Lady, Bake From Scratch, Southern Home, The Cottage Journal and more. Their local expertise allowed…

The Art of the Entry: European Flair

Recreate the Look of this European Inspired Home on Sea Island

Art of the Entry

What We Love: I especially love the green wooden doors and the perfect 'messy' vines flanking the entry. I'm typically not a fan of stucco but how can you not be with this european inspired entrance. Everything about it is perfect! Recreate The Look: Lanterns. The aged copper contributes to the green coloring. The brackets with a scrolling motif adds a special touch. Try these antique copper lanterns for a similar look. Planters. I love a good, Italian Urn Planter. When planting, think about adding something with height and then some flowers at the base for a pop of color. Iron Work. My eyes are drawn to all of the special touches, especially the iron work on the upper windows. For iron work, I turn to Sea Island Forge based in Brunswick, Georgia. They work on all types of…

Finding Wedding Inspiration Through Papyrus

A Look at Papyrus Wedding Line

Papyrus

This story is in partnership with Papyrus. A brand that we love and adore. You probably have already heard the exciting news -- my sister is getting married next June! We've been in full-on wedding planning mode and recently traveled to Savannah to pick out THE dress for her special day. Right now, we're narrowing down the ceremony site and all of the reception specifics from colors, to the overall style and vibe, and everything in between!  I'm constantly perusing Pinterest and pinning flower bouquets, bridesmaid dresses, and other pictures that are similar to my sister's style. When you're planning an event or party, it's important to remember that inspiration can be found all around you -- in a beach house color palette, on your favorite printed scarf, or even on stationery! While we are planning…

Sparkling Rosé Port Cocktail

My Newest Recipe For A Perfect Summer Cocktail

Rose Port Wines

Rose Port Wines

It's no secret that I have been on a rosé kick lately. Not only is it refreshing in the summertime, but it is also a delicious wine. My newest find has taken my love of rosé to a whole new level -- a rosé style Port! Port is a fortified, sweet red wine that is typically paired with dessert. Croft Port Wines created a new rosé style Port, that is light and designed to enjoy during summer, so I couldn't wait to try it! Croft Pink Port is much lighter and crisper than traditional Port wines. The Port has a vibrant and fruity flavor -- you can taste hints of raspberry and cherry in each sip. This Port is best served chilled, try it on ice with a lemon garnish! If you're looking for another way to serve this…
