A few weeks ago marked the official start of fall so it's the perfect opportunity to welcome the season with fresh fall fruits, delicious cheeses, local honeycomb, cinnamon-spiced Schermer Pecans and my fall wardrobe --such as cozy sweaters, a go-to pair of jeans and bold scarves. I've always loved the transition of summer to fall, and let's just say that fall fashion and cheese plates are the perfect pairing in the Lavin household. Cheese plates are a must-have first step when it comes to hosting parties -- it provides your guest with something to snack on while they're enjoying a glass of wine and you're finishing up dinner. The first rule of thumb is to ditch the pre-cut cheeses and meats you can find in any grocery store. Instead, you should seek out local artisan cheeses…

Mixing Materials In Your Kitchen

This week, as part of the Wayfair Inspiration Insiders YouTube Series, I'm showcasing four fall trends -- starting with mixing materials in your kitchen. I've always loved the look and aesthetic of a clean kitchen--from white subway tile, to marble countertops, white cabinets + stainless steel appliances. However I would definitely recommend blending different materials in your kitchen to add texture and dimension. Check out my four tips below on how to mix materials! Tip One. Incorporate Rustic Wood Cutting Boards as Decor  I live in Coastal Georgia, so a lot of the decor that you see on my blog, Lavin Label, has a subtle coastal feel with a traditional look. That’s one major reason why I love these J.K Adams rustic wood cutting boards from Wayfair. I love the weathered finish, since it reminds me of the driftwood…

An Evening With West Elm

An Opening Celebration of West Elm Savannah

Last week I was invited to West Elm's dinner party to celebrate the grand opening of their Savannah store. I was already thrilled that they were opening a new store so close to home, so this dinner party was just the icing on the cake! They hosted this soiree at The Collin's Quarter, which happens to be one of my favorite restaurants in Savannah. (So much so that I previously featured the restaurant on Lavin Label, which you can also find on my Savannah Travel Guide.) I was thrilled to be introduced to the new West Elm Savannah team. The grand opening was marked by a party where a portion of the proceeds benefitted the Historic Savannah Foundation. The foundation is well established and has completed some remarkable projects. Today they are internationally renowned for saving historic…

This Post Is In Partnership with Cloister Collection.  Opinions Are 100% My Own. This past week I had the pleasure of going to Tybee Island for a girls' weekend getaway! I partnered with Visit Tybee and The Southern C for a two day mini vacation at this island off the coast of Savannah. Tybee is a low-key + quirky beach town with spectacular views of both the ocean and marsh. For dinner, the group (which consisted of Holly Hollingsworth Phillips from The English Group, Whitney Long and Cheri Leavy from The Southern C, and Kat Neunaber from Waiting on Martha) headed to A-Js Dockside Restaurant for dinner + drinks on the dock. We enjoyed the most beautiful sunset that night while sipping on boozy lemonade cocktails and eating snow crab and hushpuppies. I'll be sharing…
