If I had to pick one spot in Savannah that embodies my design style, it would be Mirabelle Café. The natural lighting enhances the pale blue and blush colored walls, while the sweet aroma of homemade waffles fills the air. Every single angle of this quaint café is Instagram-worthy. The European ambience makes it the perfect place to grab coffee or catch up with a friend. Mirabelle is known for their Belgian Liege waffles—which have bits of Pearl Sugar folded into them. When the waffle is placed on the iron, the little pearls melt and then caramelize, giving the waffle a distinctly sweet taste. Finally, they are dusted with powdered sugar, which accentuates the crevices left behind from the iron. While all of their waffles are delicious, I would recommend the Southern Belle, the House Special,…

I love shooting my stories with Kelli Boyd, and I'm fortunate that she usually comes to St Simons when we work on blog features at my house. Needless to say, she was thrilled to collaborate with me for a shoot in Savannah! In response to all of your requests for a Savannah travel guide, I'm going to share some must see places in Georgia's oldest city! If you've never been to Savannah, you'll want plan a trip after reading about some of my favorite places. This gorgeous city is not only home to River Street, but also filled with historical places, live oaks and beautiful parks. It was colder than I anticipated when I got to Savannah, so I was in search of a cute and cozy outfit. My first stop with Kelli was James Gunn Boutique, which is located in Isle of Hope - a cute area near…

Vita Vite

Art Gallery and Wine Bar in Raleigh, North Carolina

Vita Vite
Vita Vite

Just a few months ago, I travelled to North Carolina to celebrate my good friend’s official opening of Vita Vite, an Art Gallery + Wine Bar that’s located in Raleigh’s Warehouse District.  The owner, Lindsay Rice, has worked tirelessly since March to transform her dream of owning a cozy space where art + wine are blended harmoniously into a reality. Vita Vite literally means “life” and “vine”, but more loosely translates into the belief that life revolves around food and wine. Thus, Vita Vite was created with the intention of being an inviting space that brings people together. Lindsay’s background in art history and art management helped her to transform the warehouse into a rustic, yet warm and inviting space. She clearly has an eye for design because every inch of this space is beautifully decorated—from the oversized leather…

Last year, my friend Ashley Johnson (pictured above) introduced me to a new skincare line called One Love Organics. The main reason why I was drawn to One Love Organics is because their products are all natural and organic. In fact, One Love Organics is 1 of only 10 ECOCERT® licensed manufacturing facilities for natural and organic cosmetics in the U.S. On top of that, their production takes place on St. Simons Island, Georgia, making it a health-conscious and eco-friendly local business. I really believe in their products, not only from my personal experience, but also because I ended up meeting the owner, Suzanne LeRoux (it’s a small town) and she is just as impressive and wonderful as the products themselves! Her focus on simplicity, quality and effective ingredients, has established an incredible name for…

Once your child is old enough to socialize with other kids there is one thing that you can expect to pop up like clockwork. I’m talking about birthday parties. As a parent it’s inevitable that you will have to take the role of a party planner for almost a decade. Here are tips to help you plan your child’s birthday party without losing your mind. Start with the guest list. This dictates everything such as location, activities, favors, food, etc. Incorporate an activity. This is a great way to involve all of your party guests and to keep the kids entertained. In most cases the activity can also serve as a party favor. Don’t do it alone. Hire a babysitter or enlist a friend’s help before and during the day of the party. There will be a lot of tasks…
