One of the best things about my job is the people that I have the pleasure of meeting. Typically, they are passionate, creative, entrepreneurial and talented which is certainly the case with Stephanie Duttenhaver and Cindy Edwards, owners of Sapelo Skin Care. Sapelo Skin Care is a luxury skin care brand that is developed, manufactured and bottled in Savannah, Georgia. Cindy and Stephanie aimed to create a skin care line that drew inspiration from the southern landscape and was developed locally. While we get to enjoy the fruit of their labor, getting the product perfect took them over three years with the help of an experienced cosmetic scientist and two board certified physicians. Their goal was to create a skin care brand that uses only the highest-quality, locally-inspired ingredients that shows real results and feels great. I recently had the chance to…

The Park Café

A Flavorful Restaurant in Charleston

Park Cafe
Park Cafe
Park Cafe

Fresh. Local. Flavorful. This is how I describe The Park Café, a bright and airy café serving American fare located in a revitalized neighborhood in Charleston, S.C. This Cafe was hands down of one of my favorite stops on my recent trip to Charleston. The co-owner, Xan McLaughlin, was incredibly hospitable and good-natured. The owners aimed to create a welcoming space for residents where they could pop in for avocado toast while catching up with social media (like Annie Reeves' morning routine) or stop by for dinner with friends to laugh, eat + drink. I would highly recommend this eatery! Definitely try the mushroom and walnut pâté, veggie plate and The Park lettuces. Everything was delicious. Holiday Entertaining with Golden Isles Magazine

Wow!  It was such an honor working with Golden Isles Magazine for their Holidays on the Coast issue!  It's pretty exciting to see yourself on a cover! When I started planning our story, I knew that I wanted to create an 'alfresco' vignette that was fresh and festive. Staying true to my style (which I think leans more toward classic and elegant), I decided to infuse gold and a rich pomegranate red to accent all of the varying shades of green in my backyard. I lit our outdoor fire pit to bring in some coziness and of course offered a holiday inspired s'more bar. For the full feature and entertaining tips, pick up the latest issue of the Golden Isles Magazine or view it online.   Photography: Kelli Boyd Photography Bar Cart, flatware, dinnerware and chargers: Beachview Tent…

I love to find locally-sourced goods, especially when they're handcrafted, stylish and unique. Dewdrop Designs offers an American-made collection of lifestyle accessories. From handmade African bead necklaces to hand printed leather bags -- they offer something for everyone. Many of the pieces are actually made just a few hours north of Sea Island in Beaufort, South Carolina. Their unique collection of jewelry, leather and paper products not only appeal to the laid back islander but also to the chic New Yorker. Below you'll see their hand painted leather passport holder and a handful of bags to hold sunscreen, sunglasses and even an oyster knife. My favorite piece is the coordinates bag -- which actually have the coordinates of Sea Island! Get a jump start on your holiday shopping and check out their other designs at…

DIY Pumpkin Succulent Centerpiece

A Beautiful and Easy Centerpiece

If you're looking for a beautiful and easy centerpiece, try this DIY Pumpkin Succulent. All you need is a pumpkin, moss, tacky glue, floral wire and succulents. First, gather the moss on top of the pumpkin. To keep it in place, take floral wire and mold it in the shape of a 'U'. Stick the wire into the pumpkin to secure the moss. Next, clean the succulents and their roots. Then put a dab of tacky glue on the bottom of the succulent and place it in the center of the pumpkin in the moss. Repeat this step until you get your desired look. Use the tallest succulents in the middle and then work outward. Use a spray bottle to keep moisten the succulents. Photography: Kelli Boyd Photography
