Front Door Inspiration

Refresh your Front Porch for Fall with Pottery Barn

I was lucky enough to be asked to style a fall-inspired photo shoot for Pottery Barn with Christy from Colonial House of Flowers! Of course, I said yes and so the planning began. To help with the floral design, we asked the talented women at The Vine Garden Market. The wreaths are jaw-dropping; the deep purple Amaranthus, Rose Hips and English Roses really bring the entire fall-inspired look together. I chose to incorporate the Wyeth Recycled Glass Lanterns from Pottery Barn's fall collection to bring out my neighbor's rustic wood doors and the bronze gas lanterns! The Vince Metal Clad Accent Stool not only adds the right amount of texture + height but also plays well with the different elements in the wreath. The Palmetto Cafe

Airy Restaurant in Charleston

Palmetto Cafe

Typically in a food town like Charleston, one would not advise to eat at a hotel but the Belmond Charleston Place restaurants are, without a doubt, a huge exception. Both the Palmetto Cafe and the Charleston Grill perfectly merry a cosmopolitan flare with the subtle charms of what the Charleston dining scene has become famous for. The Palmetto Cafe has become a local hot spot for breakfast and lunch due to its convenient location (dead center of town) and terrific food and beverage program.  A beautiful and bright setting in a newly renovated dining room, enjoy fresh and clever food that could hardly be described as typical 'hotel' fare. The garden style setting is very inviting (as you can see from the pictures below) and you won't leave disappointed. Definitely try the Salmon Carpaccio and the Caesar…

The Cocktail Club | Charleston, SC

Craft Cocktail Destination in Charleston

The Cocktail Club

Who doesn't like being part of a Club?  Here's your chance but be warned: dues and initiation include the purchase of an artisan craft cocktail that may likely lead to many more.  Welcome to The Cocktail Club, the speak easy for the Charlestonian. Charleston is known for its bustling food and beverage scene. Numerous restaurants and cocktail bars line the Upper King Design District, once (like 10 years ago) was a 'sketchy' part of town. Amidst all the new development it can prove to be a challenge to find the best spots where locals hang. Tucked away on Upper King (above Macintosh) The Cocktail Club specializes in the lost art of artisan cocktails - the real deal.  The historic 1881 building fits the theme perfectly - exposed wood beams, reclaimed wood throughout, Charleston brick fireplaces, and salvaged civil war era doors - you…

King and Prince Resort

Oceanfront Resort in St. Simons Island

I don't know about you but as soon as the holidays are over, I start planning a sunny, beach vacation. After the past couple months of winter, I'm ready for warm temps and poolside cocktails. If the post holiday blues have you dreaming of sunny days, then consider booking a trip to St. Simon's Island, Georgia this spring. As a resident, I am a bit biased, however this island town has been voted one of America's 10 best Islands by AOL, Top 10 Island's in the U.S. by Conde Nast, and America's Most Romantic Town by Travel and Leisure—just to name a few. I think that once you visit you'll see that the people, activities and beauty of the Golden Isles is a special environment that you can't find anywhere else. If you're planning to visit…

Football Game Day

Celebrating the Georgia Bulldogs

On the South Coast of Georgia, few things reign more supreme than family, religion, and college football.  Lavin Label partnered with Elegant Island Living Magazine to showcase what most of us are doing on Game Day Saturday.  Look for the latest issue of EIL Magazine as the LavinLabel spread hit the stands October 1st. You can view the issue online at www.elegantislandhome.com/October_2015. As being Southern is a state of mind, so is being a Bulldog fan.  While I am a Mountaineer at heart (Lets Goooo Mountaineers!), you can't help but be drawn into the excitement that a Georgia Game day brings.  Thanks to my fantastic group of friends for modeling.   Photography: Kelli Boyd Photography For a list of all sources, check out the online issue.
