Did I ever mention that I love living in the Golden Isles? The people here are so friendly, the landscape is beautiful and I meet so many talented women that have either grown up in this area or have recently moved here. This place is a gem. As a result, I recently met a talented New Yorker who used to live in St. Simons. Erin Goodman still visits the Golden Isles and she recently hosted a launch party on East Beach for her new maritime inspired handbags called Gunner's Daughter. These beautiful cross body bags and all of their parts are designed, stitched and handmade in the USA. I really fell in love with the details of this handbag, especially... wait for it... the hand painted Golden Isles maritime map liner! What a perfect…

On my recent trip to Charleston, I stopped by Croghan's Jewel Box which is the oldest family owned jewelry store in town. It was one of my favorite stores that I visited because I got to meet the family that owns and operates this jewel on King Street. Over 100 years ago, William Croghan opened a jewelry shop in a Charleston single home and that's how their story began. I met the sisters Mariana and Kathleen Hay who were gracious, talented and full of energy. Croghan's Jewel Box has been featured in numerous major publications including Garden and Gun, Southern Living, Martha Stewart Weddings and much more. You can also shop their exclusive Goldbug collection which features earrings, bracelets, necklaces + more -- all designed in house by Mariana and inspired by Palmetto Bugs! And check out…

The first stop when my friends come into town is... you guessed it, Southern Soul Barbeque. It has been featured as one of the best BBQ restaurants in a long laundry list of notable publications and TV networks such as Southern Living, Garden and Gun, Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives, Wall Street Journal and many more. Even though these publications do a great job of describing the smoked meats and southern sides, my recommendation is to just stop by and eat lunch because the food speaks for itself. At lunch time you'll notice the crowds lined up to get a taste of what this former gas station turned BBQ joint has to offer. The day that we stopped by, there were dozens of people waiting in line. I'd say that we are pretty lucky to…

An Easy Tutorial for My Go-To Hair Style

Beach Waves

I'm sharing one of my favorite go-to hair styles! It's so easy to do that even I can do it! Anna May Hall, from A.M. Makeup, shows us how to get this style in three simple steps. Take a small segment of hair (about 1/2 inch). Wrap the hair around the curling iron but don't curl the bottom 1/4 inch. Next, repeat the same step above but wrap the hair around the curling iron in the opposite way. Below are a few tips to help you keep your curl last longer: Use a product. Try a heat protectant, like Tresemmé Keratin Smooth Heat Protectant Spray. Then choose a holding product that will give added oomph. If your hair has a natural wave, a curl-enhancing mousse, like Oribe Curl Shaping Mousse, provides hold and staying power. But if you have…

Wake Up

Working from home can have its challenges.  My tail wagging and attention grabbing pups can be a major distraction to my work flow. Getting away from my home office has become a routine part of my work week.  About three to four times a week, I take my work and head to a different location.  I have found this to be key in maintaining a successful work from home arrangement.  By getting out and interacting with other humans in a new environment, my creativity is sharpened and I'm more productive. Luckily the folks at Wake Up are understanding and always have the perfect table ready for me and the other regulars that pop into the shop.  There is nothing like opening up my laptop and sipping my vanilla chai latte.  I am also a big fan of their granola, yogurt parfaits and blueberry muffins…
