Savannah-Inspired Artwork
Savannah Based Artist Uses Painting to Inspire Others
Last fall, we had the opportunity to visit the Hostess City with The Southern C and Visit Savannah! During our girls’ getaway we met with Savannah-based artist Jessica O’Neill one morning over coffee at Mirabelle Cafe. Since our trip, I couldn’t wait to share Jessica’s story and designs with you! Now that we’re in our new home, I had a chance to hang her beautiful painting and capture it for the blog! Her path to becoming an artist is quite inspiring and I hope that you learn to appreciate her work as much as I do.
Her career as an artist started a new chapter for her. After being diagnosed with an auto-immune disorder, she embraced her love of art as a way of helping her heal. At first, she was shy about sharing her artwork. Luckily, she had great friends encouraging her to share her pieces. There is a simplicity to her pieces that is both refreshing and inspirational. She has definitely found a way to maintain her positivity through painting and I think that it’s visible in all of her work. Jessica uses the natural beauty of Savannah as inspiration. Between the hundred-year oaks, lowcountry marshes, and picturesque coast she has a bountiful supply of inspiration. She finds beauty in the unexpected and feels inspiration is everywhere, as long as you open your eyes.
I am lucky enough to have a gorgeous piece of Jessica’s artwork in my newly renovated home. The Spikey Foliage painting, as well as the colors used in it, are the perfect fit for my master bathroom. It is a twist on her more traditional paintings, using the underpainting to compliment the palmetto. It has provided the detailed finishing touch that I was searching for and has made the bathroom complete. It’s the perfect painting to look at before I start my day.
You can view her portfolio (the first one might be my favorite!) and she also has cocktail napkins, stationery and more.
As Jessica says, “Love yourself, learn to love each day more than the previous, and then share all the love this inspiring world has to offer.” Thank you, Jessica! We wish you all of the best!

Thanks, Kim! The wall color is actually a light gray called Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter! For a good white, check out BM Simply White!
